Three times already, most recently in the spring of 2026, the Altmühltal Nature Park offers courses for newly starting rangers: geography, archaeology, biodiversity and history. One day with Dr. Freddi Spindler was for palaeontology, starting with basics for a geological worldview and Earth’s history, learning ammonites’ bauplan and discussing how much of a bird was inside Archaeopteryx. The Museum Bergér and the nearby Blumenberg Fossil Quarry served as excursions. Many questions, lots of answers, and still much to learn – first and foremost, the speaker!
