Once again for the Late Jurassic ‘Solnhofen’ biota, an ecological diagram was designed to distinguish between the terrestrial (insular) and marine (mostly lagoonic) faunas; the reddish tone demonstrates the Mesozoic predominance of reptiles on all larger faunal levels; pterosaurs were certainly the most important players to bridge between the marine and island realms.
