Compsognathus & Sciurumimus
digital drawing roughly based on models, 2023

At times when I loosely got involved with sculpture, it was more on repair and team support. For Sciurumimus, a baby theropod and maybe a megalosaurid, I built a head-and-jaw model with exact dentition, as well as the naked body shape standing on an uneven ground. What the former team made of it, well, was not under my supervision. A pity for scientific rigour, but this sketch is all the more logical.
The Compsognathus was an only-style naked model that I covered in coarse bristles. After an anatomical revision of the skull, this sketch was ready to be drawn. It feels like bird watching when you manage to overcome an outdated imagination that had been coined since childhood.
